We're using Hatchbuck as a CRM for clients that are just starting with their marketing automation and want to integrate sales and marketing, without having to pay premium prices. It's used mostly by marketing and sales departments since it provides great options for marketing automation and customer relationship management through automated campaigns, notifications, pipelines and many others.
  • It's very user-friendly and easy to navigate
  • All automation is based on the tag system, making it very easy to set any nurturing campaign
  • They have an excellent support team! Quick to respond and find a solution.
  • It'd be great if the tool had landing pages and calls to action. It would eliminate the need for multiple tools and streamline the efforts and results.
  • Form design could be better. Although there can be custom coded, the default options are pretty basic.
Hatchbuck is a great tool if you're looking for a budget-friendly CRM option. It's easy to set up and fairly easy to navigate. Keep in mind that you will need additional tools for landing pages and social media. But even with the additional tools, the price of the software beats many other CRM solutions. This would be my #1 recommendation for anyone that's starting with their CRM efforts.

I've been using Hatchbuck since the middle of last year and it has literally been a game changer for me. It has enabled me to automate a lot of my recruiting, which has saved me a great deal of time and has made for a much more efficient and effective operation. I'm now able to communicate relevant content to my stakeholders on a regular basis, eliminating certain prospects from falling through the cracks. I also know clearly how many prospects I have in my sales funnel and exactly what stage they are at in the process. Night and day from my previous CRM!
  • The online forms capability has been amazing. I'm able to connect my landing page to Hatchbuck and a prospect's information is automatically transferred into a record, eliminating data input time, once they click submit.
  • I use the campaigns feature quite a bit. In fact, I'm running 12 now and will be developing a few more.
  • Notifications and Tasks. Notifications have been important to me by letting me know when prospects hit a certain threshold or level of interest. Once notified, I can follow up with. Tasks enable me to connect with certain people in meaningful ways to enable we keep their top of mind awareness.
  • It took me a few months but I also use the Deals feature. I established quite a few stages for each deal and I'm able to track how many "hot" prospects I have and where they are in the sales funnel. I didn't have this capability before I started using Hatchbuck.
  • They may be a little behind the curve when it comes to some of the advanced features, such as integrating various calendars and e-mail clients.
  • I would like to see them more integrated with social media platforms, such as keeping track of social media activity and adding more platforms that they track within a record.
  • The onboarding process was a bit bumpy and took much longer than expected.
It is very easy and intuitive to use and I think is best suited to a smaller company. Although it suits my needs quite, quite well, I'm not sure how its functionality would translate into a larger company with more complex operations. A company may want to ask about Hatchbuck's reporting function, which may not be robust enough for some.

Hatchbuck (HB) contains all past and current customers and all new leads. In addition to nurturing leads via emails and campaigns, we use HB to stay in contact with our customer base using newsletters and special announcements. I've used other CRM systems in the past that were not fully integrated like HB with my contact database; thus contacts stats such as clicks were separate from the contact records. Also, I find creating emails and campaigns are easier and intuitive. Lastly, I've become more dependent on the forms feature. I now have forms to enter leads and register contacts for events and combined with Weebly, I can now enable leads to register and purchase online while automatically tracking all activity.
  • Emails creation: The drag-and-drop email creator is very easier to learn and powerful enough to create graphical; click-based emails.
  • Website Page navigation notices: using the Java Script forms provided in NB, I was able to add notices of whenever a registered HB contact clicks on one of my webpages.
  • Scoring, Tags and Tag Actions: using the Scoring feature, my leads are automatically elevated/reduced in priority bases on they actions (i.e. a link click increases their score while and unsubscribe reduces. I didn't immediately appreciate the power tags but now I use tags to note a variety of important information such as lead interests. Last, I use Lead Actions to immediately send a targeted email to leads that clicked 1 or more times on an email or website link that shows a particular interest as a Photography.
  • Campaigns: I'd like to see some fully created sample campaigns with a series emails so I have examples.
  • Fee: I'd like to see an incremental fee structure rather than the current doubling from $99 to $199 per month. I'd really like to maintain more than 2500 contacts but the next level for 10,000 contacts to twice and far more contacts than I need. Likewise, I would like to have 2-3 users but it would cost double to add them. I believe this fee structure is leaving money on the table since am not willing to double my monthly fee but would consider an incremental increase.
Hatchbuck is best suited for businesses with a large customer base that continually receive new qualified leads.

Hatchbuck has been a godsend. We switched from HubSpot.

While Hatchbuck does not have all the bells and whistles of other marketing automation softwares, it serves as a CRM and Marketing Automation tool that allows our small business clients to do inbound marketing at an affordable rate, while not compromising quality of delivery.

We mainly implement Hatchbuck for:

  • Segmentation of lists
  • Contact scoring
  • Email marketing
  • A sales pipeline management
  • Real people on the support team.
  • Unparallelled support and communication with agency partners.
  • Email marketing and lead scoring.
  • Integration with many other applications via Zapier.
  • Marketing analytics reports beyond email could be improved. (i.e. Competitor website ranking, seo recommendations, etc.)
  • A real WordPress plugin would be awesome
  • Built-in Landing pages. Currently you have option to integrate with several providers.
  • Not ideal for enterprises requiring ERP- level software.
  • Not a great e-commerce solution.

Perfect for service based business [insurance, realtors, plumbers, etc.], small companies where lead generation is essential [ manufacturers, distributors, Chamber of Commerce, etc.]

Non-profit organizations are a great fit due to the cost of entry and list segmentation features within Hatchbuck.

Our organization, Bristol Strategy, Inc. uses Hatchbuck for our clients who host their sites using WordPress. We implement the inbound marketing methodology and use Hatchbuck for the analytics, forms, email and lead nurturing. Hatchbuck simply and effectively enables the integration of powerful inbound marketing tactics that enable the creation of a lead generation engine for our clients that nurtures leads until they are ready to purchase. It is a powerful product that is offered cost-effectively.
  • Hatchbuck provides all website forms for landing pages and other prospect interactions with the ability to redirect to thank you pages for further nurturing. Once the lead is captured, they are then scored based on their behavior on the website.
  • Our clients use Hatchbuck for all outbound email to their prospects to provide awareness about new articles, newsletters, and more. Additionally, Hatchbuck enables email campaigns to nurture prospects based on the way they engage with website content. By automating nurturing the product enables clients to keep qualified prospects engaged until they are ready to buy.
  • Hatchbuck provides the analytics for the engagement with the website by each and every individual. Standard reports enable our clients to gain insights into prospect progression through the buyers journey stages.
  • Hatchbuck needs to implement the ability to send outbound emails based on an RSS. An example is sending a blog notice email when it publishes. Currently this has to be done manually.
Hatchbuck is very well suited for clients who have WordPress based websites and need to implement inbound marketing methodologies. It is a high quality tool that is easy to use.

We use Hatchbuck to send weekly emails to our mailing list. In addition, Hatchbuck sends a series of follow-up emails when someone expresses interest in our services.
  • Event driven emails. We provide a number of services and when potential customers access our website and inquire about one of those services, Hatchbuck sends follow up emails that assist those prospects in becoming customers. It also notifies us of someone's interest.
  • Event notifications. When someone clicks one of the links in our emails, Hatchbuck notifies us immediately so we can respond.
  • Customer Service. Whenever we have a question about how to do something or a potential new feature, the Hatchbuck team is very responsive. Often the "potential new features" have already been handled.
  • Ease of use. Hatchbuck is relatively easy to use and intuitive. Any issues or questions are easily handled by Customer Service.
  • Date driven emails. It would be nice to generate emails on a date (i.e. December 18th) or time of month (i.e. 3rd Thursday in November). The Hatchbuck team has told me that this suggestion is on their list of improvements.
I was looking for something to replace Constant Contact and, for the most part, Hatchbuck was the one I chose. It provided more of what I wanted, integrated into our website easily and is very easy to use.

I am currently using Hatchbuck mainly as a way to track my sales pipeline and track contact information for current and potential customers. Since I spend much of my time outside of my office it is important that I have a database that is easily accessed on the web.
  • The ease of use of this product was a key factor in choosing Hatchbuck.
  • The low entry cost and the fact that no long term contracts are required also played a critical role in choosing Hatchbuck.
  • The low cost also helped in my decision as I begin to use more of its features. I didn't want to pay a high price for a software program that had features I would never use or at least would not use until a much later date, in essence, wasting money up front. I have full intentions to fully utilize other great features, however, the low cost of Hatchbuck makes it a good value even if I were to only use it as nothing more than a prospect/customer database.
  • When creating a new note, I would like to see the 'Update Last Contacted date when saved' check box at the top and not the bottom of the page.
I feel that the person I met with asked all the right questions and also provided many good ideas for getting the most out of Hatchbuck. He did a great job of really digging into what I was needing and wanting and letting me know how to get those items accomplished.

We are using Hatchbuck to manage our corporate communications to all of our marketing leads and customers. We send out 2-3 newsletters each month, and also recently started sending out invitations for webinars through Hatchbuck as well. Currently the only department using it is our Marketing team, but they are sending out information from departments across the company. It helps us manage our marketing lists by automatically unsubscribing any bounced emails, as well as tracks the recipients actions so we can better understand what they are interested in and then target more specific messages to key audiences.
  • Their customer service is above and beyond. I started using Hatchbuck when I started working here, and had no previous experience with the platform or program. The customer service team is phenomenal in replying to emails quickly, and offering to do a live web support session to go over any issues or to demonstrate additional features.
  • The Tags and Tag Rules system on Hatchbuck are extremely easy to set up, use and track. It has really helped us literally see what our contacts are most interested in.
  • Easy to read, understand and interpret data generated and presented by the software. It's very easy to see specific KPI we are interested in knowing.
  • One challenge I have is when scheduling and email to go out. With 12 different groups to send it to, I wish there was a quick and easy way to select my email template, and then select my 12 groups and just stagger when the emails are sent. Instead, I have to go through the entire process of scheduling the email to go out 12 separate times. It only takes 10-15 minutes to schedule the emails, but it would be great if it took 30 seconds.
  • Some of the features could be more intuitive. For example, I was trying to duplicate an email template and I couldn't find a way to do that. There are 3 screens - the list of templates, the edit more, and the save page. I looked all over the list page, thinking if I selected one, I should have the ability to duplicate it from there. Then I made changes, thinking the system should offer me to "Save As". I finally found a duplicate option, in the 2nd position, which just didn't seem like the "right" place for it.
  • Again - this might be something that can be done and I just haven't discovered how yet - but it would be nice to be able to export data from the email statistics to look at more in depth.
Many of the features on Hatchbuck are really very intuitive, easy to learn and great to work with. If a company is looking to have a new user own the task of managing contacts with Hatchbuck, I would say this is a great program for them. There is no experience needed to be able to learn how to utilize the system, and as I mentioned, the customer service team is fantastic in assisting with advising key features, how to use some great tools built into the program, etc.

Hands-On Hatchbuck

We use Hatchbuck across the entire business (small marketing shop). It has replaced our disconnected CRM and basic email marketing tools. As a marketing technology consultancy, we have hands-on experience with enterprise-level marketing automation tools; with Hatchbuck we get some of that functionality which makes it extremely valuable and more cost-effective.
  • Segmentation is a big one for me. Tag segmentation is infinitely configurable and allows for very targeted and specific grouping.
  • Setting up email nurturing campaigns is fairly straightforward and makes it better than basic email transmission, but simpler than full-blown marketing automation.
  • Form management makes it easy to spin up specific pages and actions can be applied to start campaigns, tag etc...
  • Web page tracking lets me know who clicked on what, what pages they've visited or what forms they've submitted.
  • The addition of an API would be great. Expanded interoperability with other tools would add to it's quiver.
  • An internal landing page builder would be nice.
For a small or medium-sized business it's great. Features usually found in enterprise-level marketing automation tools can be found in Hatchbuck making it attractive for limited budgets. It also fits well if you need CRM and marketing tools in-one. If you like knowing more about your leads and audience, but don't have the budget for MA or full-blown CRM tools, then Hatchbuck may be a fit.
